Creep Review

In this British horror film, Franka Potente plays Kate, a young woman who ends up accidentally missing the last train home, and gets trapped in the underground, where she find herself hunted by a monster of sorts.
The movie starts of solidly, with Franka Potente giving a somewhat uninspired but solid performance as Kate. For the first half of the movie, the director goes to great lengths to avoid showing the monster directly, heightening the feeling of parania and being trapped.
Once the monster gets revealed, about half way through the movie, he turns out terribly disappointing, it kind of makes you wonder why everybody was so terrifeid of it in the first place, although it does feature in some very creepy scenes.
The problem with the second half of the movie is that it tries to hint at the origins of the monster, without telling the viewer anything definite. If handled well, this technique can heighten the sense of drama and mystery in a movie. In Creep, it just feels like thye edited the real plot out of the movie, and left bits of it in there.
Overall, this could have been a very good horror movie, but the incoherent second half reduces it to something that you can watch when you feel bored.
If you are not a fan of horror, give it a miss... If you are a really bored horror fan, you might consider renting it.
